WILL THE WORKERS NEED A VISA ?

There are no work permit or other registration requirements for workers from European Union (EU) countries, which includes Eastern European Professionals and skilled workers from Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania.

This obviously also applies to the older members of the EU – France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Greece, Malta, Sweden, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Denmark, Netherlands, Ireland, and Belgium. Staff who have not previously worked in Ireland will need to register with the Tax/ Social Insurance Authorities for PPSN Number. Those that have previously worked in Ireland will retain the same PPSN Number.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I PAY STAFF/WORKERS ?

You should pay market rates, the same as you would pay any other person of similar experience and skill, doing the same job.

The competition for Staff from Eastern European Countries is not from the levels of pay and conditions in their home country but rather if they decide to emigrate then the opportunities in Nordic Countries such as Sweden and Norway and Northern Europe – Germany, Netherlands and Denmark shall also be offering competitive Packages to rival Irish Employers.
If you Offer wages considerably lower than market rates then after a period of time Employees will be attracted away to Employers offering considerably better conditions.

DO EASTERN EUROPEAN WORKERS HAVE THEIR OWN TOOLS ?

It is not common in Poland and Eastern Europe for workers to have their own tools. Tools will usually be provided by the employer. We recommend that you should not expect tools, although it is not a general condition. In some professions (e.g. specialised welders), one’s own tools are a standard. The case of personal tools is often limited by the practicalities of transporting them to the Ireland and technical matters such as different voltages, plugs etc.

DO PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS APPLY IN IRELAND ?

We primarily recruit from Eastern European Countries whom are Full Members of the European Union. There is mutual acknowledgement of University Degrees and Qualifications amongst all members of the European Union.

In some very specific Professional Qualifications there may be additional requirements such as Pharmacists from a Non English Speaking Country as well as their Pharmacy Degree are required to reach a Standard in specified International English Tests.

WILL THE WORKERS SPEAK ENGLISH ?

The Client should specify the required level of English at the beginning of the recruitment process. Generally, the younger generation have a much higher level of English.

White collar workers, pharmacists, doctors and other highly qualified professionals present a good level of English language competence.

In some professions, good knowledge of English is very rare, but it does not exclude the high quality of work and professionalism. In most cases, the best solution is to organise teams, where workers with a poor knowledge of English are accompanied by a worker who has good English skills. That way the Client can be sure that communication will not be a problem.

Such an English speaking person would not only work as a translator but would generally be the Team Leader foreman of the group and would also work in his own speciality.
